Creating SPFILE on ASM

Make sure you have the following directory structure on the ASM.

ASMCMD>cd DATA/MYDB
ASMCMD> ls -l
Type           Redund  Striped  Time             Sys  Name
N    CONTROLFILE/
N    DATAFILE/
N    ONLINELOG/
N    PARAMETERFILE/
N    TEMPFILE/

SQL> startup nomount pfile=’/u01/oracle/product/11.1/db/dbs/initMYDB.ora’;
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 1.2827E+10 bytes
Fixed Size 2163968 bytes
Variable Size 1879051008 bytes
Database Buffers 1.0939E+10 bytes
Redo Buffers 7409664 bytes

SQL> CREATE SPFILE=’+DATA’ FROM PFILE;

File created.

oracle [+ASM]>asmcmd
ASMCMD> cd DATA/MYDB/PARAMETERFILE
ASMCMD> ls -l
Type Redund Striped Time Sys Name
PARAMETERFILE UNPROT COARSE JUN 22 15:00:00 Y spfile.256.722358507
